After spending a lot of money on plants, it would be a shame for them to shrivel and discolour.
No one wants their plants to die, but what happens if they do?
You could go out and get more – costing yourself another great expense – or you could try something rather quirky.
A mum has come up with a bizarre way of ensuring the pricey plants in her garden always look green and healthy.
Gail Woollaston, 38, from Birmingham loves a bit of DIY, so she decided to ‘revive’ her dead plants all on her own – and her method had her two children in stitches.
The parent went out to her nearest hardware store and purchased some green spray paint.
I’m sure you can figure out where this is heading…
Gail then applied the paint to the brown leaves of her plants and within seconds, they looked good as new.
She shared her little trick on Facebook, where she soon went viral.
“I thought my garden was looking a bit untidy so I decided to come up with my own solution and I think it worked,” she wrote.
“I am DIY obsessed – I up-cycle anything and this was going to be a fun experiment for me.
“I paid a lot of money for the plants and I didn’t want to get rid of them – I had tried everything to bring them back to life but it wasn’t working.”
The mum went on to admit that the first time she tried it, the colour of the paint wasn’t quite right and her plants ended up looking unnaturally bright.
However after mixing another colour in, things improved.
“My friends have said that they wouldn’t have known any different,” she added.
Gail now refuses to buy any new plants for her garden. If one dies or isn’t looking too good, she’ll simply add some paint.
Many who weren’t keen on gardening loved her idea and joked they might ‘pinch’ it for themselves in the future.
